San Diego artist Nan Coffey made an appearance at the Stephen Clayton Gallery during the Coronado Art Walk on September 14th for the release of her print “Some Sugar at the Del” (above) and to do a live painting demonstration. She has been painting for as long as she can remember and uses a special “super-flat” technique to create her trademark vibrant colors and sharp lines. “I paint with a lot of layers in order to get the colors to really pop; its like I’m painting the same thing over and over and over,” said Nan, who is inspired by the bright colors of pop art. Nan has work permanently at the Stephen Clayton Gallery at the Coronado Ferry Landing.
