Coronado Chamber Partners in Community Bicycle Rewards Program

The Coronado Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and staff are excited to partner with City Councilman Richard Bailey, the Coronado Police Department, Holland’s Bicycles and Vintage Village Theatre for a community-wide Bicycle Rewards Program. This program, spear-headed by Councilman Bailey, recognizes and rewards local bicycle riders who are following the rules of the road and contributing to the safety of others. This includes wearing a helmet (for riders under 18), not riding on walk-only sidewalks, stopping at stop signs and red lights, as well as other bike safety regulations.

Bicycle Rewards

As a part of this program, Coronado Police Department Senior Volunteer Patrol and Public Safety Officers will distribute gift certificates to cyclists of all ages who are witnessed practicing bike safety. Vintage Village Theatre donated $100 worth of gift certificates to the program, and the Chamber matched this amount with additional movie theater passes.

“In light of the many bike-related incidents that have occurred in our community over the past several years, we feel strongly that this is a positive step in incentivizing everyone to be a little more careful and conscious while riding their bikes,” said Coronado Chamber Executive Director Sue Gillingham. “It takes a team effort to keep our roads safe for everyone, cyclists and drivers alike!”

Local individuals and businesses interested in contributing by donating gift certificates for this program can do so by contacting Karl Young with Holland’s Bicycles at [email protected]. Any contribution is appreciated.
