CMS Student Hosts Fashion & Talent Show at The Kids Expo

Coronado Middle School student dreams of having a career in the entertainment industry, and she's keeping busy working towards that goal.

Trystan Davenport is a 6th grader at Coronado Middle School and was excited when she was recently chosen by a producer to host Tower Talent’s Fashion and Talent show at The Kids Expo in Del Mar this past weekend (April 30 – May 1).

Trystan is a rising actress and singer with a goal of working in movies and commercials. With the help of family and friend sponsors, in January she traveled to compete at the IMTA 2016 Los Angeles competition and won an award for her commercial.

Trystan is very active in the drama community here in Coronado.  She has attended the CoSA Theater Arts Camp for the past two years and is thrilled to have been accepted to the CMS Advanced Performing Arts program for her upcoming 7th grade year. You can see her perform with the CMS Choir on May 11th for the Spring Faire (which just so happens to be Trystan’s 12th birthday)!

eCoronado.com asked Trystan about her passion for acting and singing —

eCoronado: When did you first know that you wanted to act and sing?

Trystan: I first knew I wanted to sing when I watched American Idol on TV when I was younger. After watching American Idol, I was singing all the time and I continue to sing to this day. Before the 4th grade, I decided to join the summer musicals at the Coronado Community Center. After doing musicals, I found that I also liked to act. So, for my summers before 5th and 6th grade, I joined CoSA Musical Theatre and Drama Camp and then I knew that I loved to both act and sing. I decided after doing these musicals and camps that I wanted to act and sing professionally. When we went to the San Diego Kids Expo in May 2015, we came across John Robert Powers, my acting school’s booth, and we signed up. Since then, my love for acting and singing has grown even more.

eCoronado.com: Are there other activities and sports that you enjoy unrelated to drama/singing?

Trystan: I also enjoy playing soccer and softball, and I have just started to play guitar. I played on the Nado Select Soccer Team for two years and I’ve played softball for Coronado Youth Softball for the past two years as well. I have guitar lessons at my acting school (now called Tower Talent) and at Rock and Roll San Diego.

eCoronado.com:  What is the next big event you have scheduled?

Trystan: We are planning for more auditions in L.A. for commercials and other acting jobs.

eCoronado.com: What is your ideal future goal?

Trystan: My goal is to make a career in the entertainment industry as an actress and singer.

We’ll be watching for you, Trystan — Break a leg!
