“Captain America: Civil War” May Be Marvel’s Best Movie Yet

Go big or go home. Marvel definitely got that memo when making Captain America: Civil War.

As one of hundreds of moviegoers at Captain America: Civil War at Vintage Village Theatre, I was left sitting on the edge of my seat wanting more. More action. More rock-em-sock-em, fierce, combat fighting. More thrill. More suspense. More one-liners. More Superheros. More. More. MORE.

It wasn’t that there wasn’t plenty of those things; after all, the movie was a colossal 146 minutes long, but the entire show was so entertaining, you almost hated that it had to end.

One 14 year old moviegoer said “It’s even better than I imagined. The [movie] trailers showed just the tip of the iceberg.” Some people may disagree, but Captain America wasn’t the best part of the movie. In fact, it was the introduction of new characters and the roles they played alongside the star-spangled hero and invincible Tony Stark that piqued my interest. Comic book fans in the audience shrieked with excitement as Spider-Man made his debut and they gasped with intrigue when Black Panther revealed himself for the very first time.

Captain America: Civil War isn’t just the epic story of ‘good versus evil’ and how ‘good ultimately wins’. Instead, it highlights the struggle between either consenting to international oversight or remaining unimpeded by the government, and this is what causes the epic rift within the Avengers.

As the wife of a diehard comic book fan, I have been dragged to every single superhero movie and watched shows that span from ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘Daredevil’ to ‘Arrow’. Bored by most storylines, I tend to find myself more excited by the overpriced box of Butterfingers that I am going to indulge in than the movie my husband is so lovingly making me see. But, this movie was different. Of course I’ll always be a Captain America fan, not just because of Chris Evan’s daringly sexy good looks, but because of what Good ol’ Cap stands for… freedom.

“Captain America stands for America and everything we hold dear,” said Ryan, a moviegoer. “He will always be my favorite superhero.”
