  1. What have you enjoyed about your high school career?

Honestly I enjoyed everything. I’ve loved growing up in Coronado and I loved being part of the CHS community. It really is an amazing school with a lot of cool traditions. I loved playing water polo and I loved that every year the team was unique in its own way. My favorite things have been being part of a team, being part of a community at CHS, and living in such a wonderful place with so many awesome traditions (Christmas parade, Fourth of July, all that stuff)

2. Why did you choose to pursue water polo in high school?

I just kind of carried water polo through from middle school and I knew I really enjoyed it and wanted to try and improve as much as possible. I set a goal and wanted to train varsity my freshman year, so that was a lot of motivation for me. I’ve loved every year and it’s taught me a lot about myself. It wasn’t always easy but it taught me a lot about teamwork, leadership, accountability, dedication and desire to work hard for something. My favorite part has been the team and seeing how roles change and team dynamic changes from year to year with new people coming in and seniors graduating.

3. Who has been the most influential teacher within you last four years?

My most influential teachers would have to be Mrs. Belong and Ms. McGreevy. I love Ms. McGreevy because of all of her support she provided off campus supporting us at games and just being a great person to talk to. Mrs. Belong was influential because I loved taking AP Bio with her. She is an amazing teacher and really creates an amazing atmosphere. She furthered my interest in biology and I will be a bio major next year. All of my coaches have also been extremely influential teaching me more about teamwork, leadership and dedication.

4. What is your plan after high school?

My plan for next year is to attend UCLA as a biology major. After that I am hoping to go on to medical school and eventually become a doctor.

5. Will you miss the high school?

Yes! I have been pretty nostalgic the last couple weeks! Coronado is truly a very special place. Sometimes I forgot that when I was really busy. If I could do anything over again, I would have gone to the beach more and appreciated the scenery a little more. I love the high school, and the teachers are amazing. We have so many amazing traditions with Powder Puff, the Rock, and Empty Bowls. I really can’t imagine going to high school anywhere else. Everyone on campus makes the school such a great place and I’m very proud to say that I am part of the islander family.
